On May 29, the opening ceremony of an in-house technical conference of a renowned domestic pharmaceutical firm kicked off in Jinan. As its intelligent logistics project partner, XGEN ROBOT was invited to attend the event. During the outdoor exhibition, XGEN’s counterbalance FMR robots simulated end-to-end indoor-outdoor docking workflows and demonstrated seamless cargo transportation from conveyor lines to loading docks. The efficient on-site demonstration won widespread acclaim from attendees. This landmark cooperation between the pharmaceutical giant and XGEN ROBOT delivers an all-in-one indoor and outdoor intelligent handling system, setting an innovative benchmark for smart warehouse upgrading across the pharmaceutical logistics sector and fueling the digital transformation of the industry’s warehousing and distribution.

As a core subsidiary of China’s top 3 pharmaceutical groups, the company was founded in 2019. It specializes in the R&D and production of APIs and pharmaceutical preparations covering anti-infective, anti-tumor, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular drugs and other product lines. Adopting internationally compliant quality management systems, its pharmaceuticals are exported to over 50 countries and regions worldwide.
To construct a globally oriented digital order fulfillment network and build an agile production-warehouse linkage channel, the pharma client aimed to resolve massive manpower costs and high inbound & outbound cargo volume challenges for raw materials and finished goods. Teaming up with the client, XGEN ROBOT deployed a full-set intelligent robotic handling system covering both indoor and outdoor scenarios. Powered by diversified FMR robot fleets, the solution eliminates long-standing pain points including fragmented production and warehouse connection, tedious cross-site material transfer and difficult cold-stock inbound/outbound operations, enabling fully automated end-to-end indoor-outdoor logistics for pharmaceutical production.
Counterbalance FMR for Indoor-Outdoor Transshipment
Separated production workshops and warehouses have long been a bottleneck restricting efficient material circulation. To tackle this industry pain point, XGEN ROBOT’s outdoor counterbalance FMR robots connect automated rack systems and realize on-demand material delivery between loading docks and production workshops for long-distance raw material and finished product haulage.

To fix frequent positioning failures plaguing outdoor mobile robots, XGEN’s R&D team adopts a dual-navigation backup solution that integrates 3D SLAM and RTK satellite positioning onboard the FMR units. The dual positioning systems calibrate and complement each other; equipped with proprietary algorithms, robots can automatically recover location signals amid interferences. The design enables stable all-weather operation including rainy and snowy days and thoroughly solves difficulties such as featureless open-air environments, signal disturbance and long-distance navigation.
Narrow-Aisle FMR for Warehouse-to-Dock Transfer
The project realizes deep integration between WMS and robot dispatching systems together with PDA scanning. After receiving system instructions, narrow-aisle FMR robots autonomously travel to designated outbound ports, pick up cargos from conveyor belts and deliver goods to outdoor staging yards via optimized routes. Once inventory data is updated in the backend system, counterbalance FMRs are triggered to take over outdoor transportation, forming a fully closed-loop logistics workflow from warehouse to outdoor dock.

Cold-Storage Specified FMR for Multi-Temperature Zone Handling
Cold-chain operation is an indispensable part of pharmaceutical production. XGEN deployed customized cold-resistant narrow-aisle FMR fleets under centralized cluster control. These robots are fitted with dedicated cold-resistant laser navigation plus visual perception modules, with core sensors treated with anti-condensation nanotechnology and key components rated IP65 waterproof, supporting stable autonomous operation at temperatures as low as -30℃.
Spanning ambient-temperature workshops, regular warehouses and frigid cold storage as well as open-air outdoor yards, XGEN ROBOT’s full-spectrum FMR robot portfolio empowers pharmaceutical manufacturers to accelerate digital and intelligent transformation. With smart robotics becoming a reliable operational asset for pharmaceutical warehousing, XGEN ROBOT keeps innovating to break efficiency limits and drive the whole pharmaceutical logistics industry toward digital upgrading.
